Yate review
Deep Mac tagging workflows with batch edits, enrichment, artwork and scripting.

Yate is a macOS desktop application for editing and organizing audio-file metadata. It is suited to solo users and small operations that need more than simple tag edits, including batch processing, artwork management, file and folder organization, duplicate detection and customized actions. The application runs on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs and supports 19 audio formats. Its focus is local library management rather than a browser-based or multi-platform workspace.
Pricing uses one paid Yate license rather than a recurring plan. The license is perpetual, includes all updates and permits two concurrent Mac activations. A 14-day full-featured trial provides access without feature limitations before purchase. The standout workflow feature is the Actions scripting system, which lets users create custom sequences around tagging, renaming, moving and other operations. That flexibility is useful for repeatable personal libraries, though it requires more setup than a basic editor.
Metadata and artwork workflows connect with MusicBrainz, Discogs, AcoustID and AcousticBrainz, while additional integrations include Beatport, Last.fm and The Movie Database. Embedded artwork can be searched, edited and converted, and Apple Music/iTunes library and playlist integration supports Apple-centered collections. Email and documentation are the listed support channels. Yate fits Mac users who want batch control, enrichment and scripting in a desktop tool; users who need Windows, Linux, mobile or browser access should choose a different product.

- Where it doesn't
- Mac-only deployment limits use to macOS desktop workflows.
- Requires a paid license after the 14-day full-featured trial.
- Actions scripting adds flexibility but can increase workflow complexity.
