XML Marker is a Windows desktop editor for working with XML and JSON at both source and structural levels. Its synchronized tree, table, and text views let users move between hierarchical navigation and direct code editing, while syntax highlighting, XML checking, bookmarks, branch selection, and text wizards support day-to-day document work. It is aimed at developers, technical users, academics, and hobbyists who need a focused editor rather than a general-purpose programming environment.

The pricing model is a one-time perpetual license rather than a subscription. The 1–5 user plan costs $125, 6–15 users costs $100, 16–199 users costs $80, and 200 or more users costs $60. Each commercial tier supports per-user or per-workstation licensing. A non-commercial license costs $50 and is intended for academia and hobbyists, while a site license is available by contacting the vendor. A 30-day free trial is offered. The tier structure makes the product more suitable for teams that value perpetual licensing, while the non-commercial option is the clearest fit for individual academic or hobby use.

XML Marker’s strongest focus is structured document handling. It supports automatic XML indentation and pretty-printing, text wizards for tags, attributes, and comments, Unicode, UTF-8, UTF-16, and code-page encodings, plus large-file navigation up to about 500 MB. That makes it a practical choice for inspecting and editing sizable XML documents without giving up text-level control. The tradeoff is a narrow platform scope and an older listed release: version 2.2 was released on February 28, 2013. Choose XML Marker for Windows-centered XML and JSON workflows that benefit from synchronized views and validation; choose an alternative if current release activity, broader platform coverage, or a wider development environment matters more.
