WeebPaint review
A free drawing app with layered painting, pixel tools and exports across major platforms.

WeebPaint is a free, open-source painting and illustration app for solo artists working on anime workflows, pixel art, hand-painted textures, or light image editing. It runs in a browser and on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, with an installable progressive web app that can work offline. Its breadth makes it relevant to artists who want raster painting and pixel tools without a paid plan, rather than people seeking a specialized image-editing suite.
The drawing toolkit reaches beyond basic brushes and layers. Pressure-sensitive brushes include stroke smoothing and stabilization, and artists can customize brushes or import and export brush libraries. Layer groups, clipping masks, layer masks, blend modes, opacity controls, and merge support more structured illustration work. Pixel brushes and nearest-neighbor or RotSprite transforms serve pixel-art workflows; lasso and magic-wand selection, several transform modes, and line-art-aware fill with gap closing extend the editing options. Projects use OpenRaster, with PSD and PNG export, while time-lapse recording can export MP4. That combination suits artists who value flexible painting and portable project files; those who need a different format or a narrower workflow should compare alternatives.
Local artwork storage and optional OneDrive sync provide two storage paths, but the project notes a current obstacle: new OneDrive sign-ins are blocked by a provider-side issue, and recommends using the app without signing in while it persists. OneDrive is the listed integration, and support is through community and documentation. WeebPaint is therefore a good fit for solo artists comfortable with local storage and community-led help, especially if broad device access and pixel features matter. Artists relying on new OneDrive sign-ins should wait until that issue is resolved or choose another option.
