Webshot is a free browser extension for screenshots and screen recording, aimed at people who want capture and editing tools close to their browser without creating an account. It supports Chrome, Chromium-based browsers and Firefox. Capture options span visible areas, full pages, selected regions, elements, desktops and delayed screenshots; recordings can cover a tab, window or whole desktop. That range makes it suitable for documenting web pages, demonstrating workflows and creating visual instructions without a paid plan.

The capture and editing workflow is broader than a basic screenshot utility. During recording, users can draw, highlight, annotate and blur, and can include microphone, system or tab audio and a camera bubble. The editor adds cropping, shapes, text, pen, arrows, highlighter and blur, along with automatic click-based zooms for recordings. Text extraction works on images, video frames and scanned PDFs. Exports are full resolution without watermarks; supported recording formats include MP4, GIF and WebM. Customizable keyboard shortcuts and recording recovery also support repeat capture tasks.

According to the vendor's pricing page, the only plan is “The one plan,” priced at $0 per user monthly; the published plan includes the screenshot, recording and editing features. Local, on-device processing is the default, with no account or telemetry by default. The privacy policy describes optional AI features and user-initiated uploads or share links, so users should distinguish those actions from default local processing. Webshot is a fit for people who prioritize browser-based capture, editing and local processing at no cost. Teams that depend on integrations or a standalone desktop application should look for an alternative that explicitly provides those capabilities.
