VisualARQ review
A Rhino plug-in for parametric BIM, project documentation, IFC exchange, and Grasshopper workflows.

For architects and other design and construction professionals working in Rhino, VisualARQ adds parametric BIM objects and project documentation to a Windows desktop workflow. It can create architectural and custom objects, then produce plans, sections, elevations, and real-time vector drawings linked to the 3D model. Quantity take-offs and customizable, updateable tables support documentation tasks. Its focus is on extending Rhino rather than serving as a standalone, platform-independent BIM environment, so it fits teams already committed to Rhino for Windows better than those seeking a separate BIM system.
The modeling and coordination feature set connects several stages of a Rhino-based project. VisualARQ imports and exports IFC 2×3 and IFC 4 models and associated data, and supports Rhino 3DM and DWG workflows. Rhino Worksessions and external references help coordinate multi-file projects, while hard-clash and soft-clearance checks compare object sets. Grasshopper integration supports parametric objects and workflow automation. For visualization, it works with Rhino Render and compatible engines such as V-Ray, with Lumion, Enscape, and Twinmotion also named among its integrations. This breadth can suit practices that want documentation, model exchange, and visualization within an existing design workflow.
VisualARQ is paid, with Commercial and Educational licenses. The Commercial license is permanent and includes service releases without maintenance fees; the Educational license is for students and teachers and requires proof of educational status. A 90-day free trial is available, but there is no free plan. The vendor says prices are shown in euros in Europe and US dollars elsewhere, and international prices may vary. Documentation is the listed support channel. Choose VisualARQ if Rhino-based parametric modeling, linked drawings, IFC exchange, and Grasshopper matter to your work. Consider another option if Windows with Rhino is not part of your environment or you need a BIM product outside that dependency.
