Visual Paradigm is a visual modeling and diagramming suite for business analysts, enterprise architects, project managers, agile teams, and software developers. It combines formal notations such as UML, BPMN, SysML, ArchiMate, ER, DFD, and C4 with flowcharts, business diagrams, mind maps, organization charts, and more than 150 casual diagram types. Desktop applications are available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, while Visual Paradigm Online provides browser-based diagramming and collaboration. A free plan and a 30-day free trial provide entry points for evaluating the product.

Pricing is structured across four monthly per-user plans. Modeler costs US$6 per user per month and focuses on UML, BPMN, ERD, DFD, EPC, and other modeling diagrams. Standard costs US$19 and adds wireframing, code engineering, and database engineering tools. Professional costs US$39 and adds project-management diagrams, agile tools, and cloud services. Enterprise costs US$99 and adds enterprise architecture, business transformation, and advanced modeling tools. The paid tiers therefore suit progressively broader modeling and engineering requirements rather than offering only larger diagram libraries.

Collaboration and ecosystem fit are central strengths. Visual Paradigm Online supports real-time concurrent editing, while central repository workflows include commits, branching, merging, conflict resolution, revision history, diagram comparison, and restoration. The product supports imports from Visio, Bizagi, Rational tools, NetBeans UML, XML, Excel, XMI, UML2, and project files, plus exports to images, PDF, XML, Excel, XMI, UML2, and other formats. IDE integrations cover Eclipse, Visual Studio, IntelliJ IDEA, Android Studio, and NetBeans, with Jira and Atlassian Confluence also listed. Choose Visual Paradigm when formal modeling, engineering workflows, and collaboration matter; choose a narrower diagramming tool if those capabilities are unnecessary.
