Viibestream is a free, open-source web application for people who want to run their own live-streaming infrastructure. It broadcasts camera and microphone input, or a video file, from a browser to viewers through WebSockets. The product combines a public viewer page with autoplay, playback controls, fullscreen viewing, and viewer counts. It is aimed at self-hosters who want an interactive stream without depending on a hosted streaming service, particularly for smaller, focused broadcasts where control over deployment matters.

Its strongest area is the interaction layer around the stream. Viewers can use real-time chat with replies, mentions, emoji reactions, and participant counts. Voice talk-back adds voice-activity detection and multi-speaker mixing, while moderation includes per-person mute, mute-all, renaming, and IP bans. Role-based access separates administrators, streamers, and viewers, and login-gated administrator and broadcaster consoles provide access controls for management functions. Optional Cloudflare Turnstile login protection adds another available login safeguard.

Viibestream’s pricing model is free and open source under the GNU AGPL-3.0 license, with no paid tiers described. Deployment uses Docker Compose and SQLite-backed persistent storage, so it fits teams or individuals prepared to operate their own application environment. That focus also defines its boundaries: multistreaming, custom RTMP, recording, and broader live-production capabilities are not part of the listed offering. Choose Viibestream for a self-managed browser stream with built-in conversation, talk-back, and moderation. Choose an alternative if your workflow depends on distribution to multiple destinations, recording, or a wider production toolset.

    • No verified multistreaming or custom RTMP support
    • Recording is not included among its published capabilities
    • Self-hosting requires managing the Docker Compose deployment
