Type 3.2 is a desktop font-editing application for creating and modifying TrueType and OpenType fonts. It is aimed at designers and technical users working on custom typefaces, barcode fonts, symbol libraries, and font modifications. The feature set covers both visual font construction and technical font data, making it suitable for users who need more than basic outline drawing.

Its strongest area is the depth of its static-font editing workflow. Bézier outline manipulation is paired with a kerning editor that supports class-based pair management, plus TrueType and PostScript hinting controls. Font metrics management, Unicode editing, naming and licensing metadata fields, and OpenType feature compilation and feature-code editing extend the tool beyond outline work. OpenType layout support is included, while variable-font authoring is outside its stated scope.

Platform fit is the main constraint. Type 3.2 is designed for Windows, so it is a poor match for teams that need macOS, Linux, or browser-based access. It is also a paid product without a free plan, which makes it less suitable for occasional users looking for no-cost font editing. Choose it for focused Windows development of static TrueType and OpenType fonts; consider an alternative if variable fonts, broader platform coverage, or a free option are central requirements.
