Tulp is an iPhone app for people preparing for the Dutch inburgering exam. It combines A1-B1 vocabulary study, Dutch grammar lessons, fixed phrases and fill-in-the-gap writing exercises with Knowledge of Dutch Society (KNM) practice. Learners can review Dutch words, example sentences and questions with audio, while the interface and explanations are available in English, Simplified Chinese and Japanese. Its focus suits solo learners who want structured exam preparation rather than live instruction.
The Free plan includes all words, phrases, grammar lessons and KNM questions at no cost, with no ads, subscriptions or in-app purchases. Exam practice is a central feature: KNM questions span eight themes, and a timed mock exam presents 40 questions in 45 minutes. Spaced-repetition reviews organize vocabulary study, while fixed phrases and gap-fill activities address writing practice. Audio is provided for words, example sentences and questions, and lessons can be studied offline with progress stored on the device.
Platform fit is the main practical constraint. Tulp is documented for iPhone with iOS 18 or later, and its site says the app is coming soon to the App Store. Study is mobile-only, with email as the support channel; there is no speech-recognition or live-tutoring component. Choose Tulp if you want free, exam-oriented Dutch materials with KNM coverage, audio and offline access on an iPhone. Learners who need Android, web access, spoken-response practice or teacher interaction should choose a different option.
