A flexible free outliner for Markdown and Org graphs, with Linux as its primary platform.

Tine is a local-first knowledge outliner for people who organize information in nested bullets, tasks, pages, and linked graph structures. It is free, open source under AGPL-3.0, and available on Linux, macOS, Windows, and Android. Its Markdown and Org read/write compatibility makes it suitable for Logseq users who want to edit an existing graph without importing or migrating it. Offline access, exports to Markdown, Org, Text, OPML, HTML, and PDF, plus global desktop quick capture, support local knowledge workflows.
The product’s strongest area is the depth of its outlining and graph features. Users can combine page links, tags, block references, embeds, and linked references with search, saved queries, filters, and query views. Focus mode, folding, tabs, split panes, and workspaces help with navigation, while grid, table, and board views present outline branches in alternate formats. PDF text and area annotation can create linked notes, and automatic snapshots, conflict detection, and recoverable trash add protection around ongoing work.
Tine also fits workflows that value file ownership and an open ecosystem. It can work with Logseq, Syncthing, and Dropbox, and it offers capability-limited plugins and themes. The main consideration is maturity: Tine remains in alpha, with Linux identified as its primary and best-tested platform; macOS and Windows builds are newer. Android is distributed as a sideloaded APK, while iOS has no public app. Choose Tine for an open-source, local outliner with broad graph and view capabilities; choose another tool if you need a mature 1.0 product or a public iOS app.
