TerraScan is desktop point-cloud processing software from Terrasolid Ltd. for LiDAR and laser-scanning workflows. It is aimed at production teams managing large point-cloud projects for mapping, powerline inspection, roads, railways, forestry, mining, and urban modeling. Its scope covers project organization, trajectory information, visualization, classification, vectorization, change detection, and geospatial analysis. The software runs on Windows through Spatix or compatible Bentley CAD platforms, with Full, UAV, and Lite editions available.

Pricing is structured around the full TerraScan version. The published plans show a €612 two-month subscription, a €1,245 six-month subscription, a €1,710 annual subscription with maintenance included, and a €5,700 perpetual license paid once. That gives short projects a shorter commitment while retaining an annual and perpetual route for ongoing production work. Annual maintenance for perpetual licenses is listed separately. There is no free plan, so TerraScan is positioned for organizations that can justify specialist desktop software rather than occasional point-cloud inspection.

Its strongest fit is the depth of its production toolkit. Users can combine automatic, semi-automatic, and manual classification with attribute-based display modes, trajectory management, laser-data correction, 3D vectorization, change detection, and corridor or clearance analysis. LAS and LAZ import and export support common point-cloud exchanges, while E57 import includes scanner positions and images. Integrations with Spatix, Bentley MicroStation, PowerDraft, OpenCities Map, OpenRoads Designer, and ContextCapture Editor extend its place in Bentley-centered workflows. Choose TerraScan for structured LiDAR production and infrastructure analysis; choose another product if you need a cloud-first or broadly accessible viewer.

Terrasolid TerraScan pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Automatic, semi-automatic, and manual point classification
    • LAS, LAZ, and E57 workflows with scanner positions and images
    • Corridor, clearance, change-detection, and danger-object analysis
  • Where it doesn't
    • Windows desktop software rather than a standalone cloud application
    • No free plan; paid access starts at €612 for two months
    • Best suited to specialist LiDAR workflows, not general point-cloud viewing
