Tau review
A feature-rich DJ system for web access, cloud metadata and advanced performance setups.

Tau is DJ performance software for DJs working across Windows PCs, Macs, iPhones, iPads and a web browser. It combines two- or four-deck mixing with beat synchronization, beatgrid editing, cue points, loops, effects and waveform displays. DJs can also separate drums, bass, melody and vocals in real time, use digital vinyl system modes, map MIDI controllers and record mixes to stereo WAV. Track access spans local files, Rekordbox libraries, Apple Music libraries, and cloud or network folders.
The platform fit is a central strength. Tau connects with Rekordbox, Apple Music, Dropbox, Google Drive, Ableton Link, NAS and network storage, as well as MIDI controllers. Its Cloud Folder feature supports backup and cross-device synchronization of selected performance metadata, giving DJs a way to carry metadata across supported devices while keeping the cloud folder under their own management. That combination suits performers who move between desktop, mobile and browser workflows rather than staying with one computer.
Tau uses a paid product model and also offers a free Web Browser plan with limited features. The published product details describe a single paid model rather than several named paid tiers. Buyers choosing Tau should be comfortable with a broad performance toolkit that includes stems, DVS, controller mapping, library browsing and cloud-folder workflows. DJs looking for cross-platform access and metadata continuity have a strong fit; those seeking only a simple browser mixer may find the wider feature set unnecessary, particularly because the browser version is limited.
