Task Session combines project and task management with CRM, time tracking, invoicing, file management, discussions, and a client portal. It is designed for small and medium-sized businesses, agencies, consultants, and accounting practices that need to organize client work in one self-hosted system. Kanban boards, subtasks, assignments, due dates, recurring tasks, workflow columns, role-based permissions, and deadline tracking support day-to-day delivery. The client portal adds project status, invoices, payments, communication, and file sharing, while white-label branding supports a client-facing experience.

Pricing is license-based and billed annually or as a one-time purchase, depending on the plan. Starter costs $249 per license per year and includes one domain license, one year of support and updates, projects and task management, advanced roles and permissions, and a white-label client portal. Founder Plan costs $1,245 one time and adds priority premium support, five years of updates, managed setup and deployment, and the same white-label client portal. Enterprise uses custom pricing and includes flexible deployment options, custom setup and priority support, and multiple client management. There is no free plan.

The product’s strongest fit is operational client work: recurring tasks, billable time, invoices, payments, documents, discussions, and permissions are gathered in one system. Google Drive, Stripe, PayPal, and 2Checkout are supported integrations, and the software runs on the web or through self-hosted deployment. Teams wanting control over hosting and branding should consider Task Session, especially when client portals and billing matter. Teams primarily seeking marketing-specific planning, proofing, or capacity management should choose a product centered on those workflows instead.

Task Session pros and cons

    • Self-hosted deployment with role-based permissions and unlimited users
  • Where it doesn't
    • No free plan; Starter begins at $249 per license annually
    • Self-hosted deployment requires the customer’s own server
    • Its focus is broader client operations than marketing-specific planning
