Tagger for Resolve review
A focused local tagging companion for DaVinci Resolve Studio, not a full DAM.

Tagger for Resolve is a desktop application for DaVinci Resolve Studio that analyzes video footage and writes searchable metadata into the Resolve Media Pool. It is aimed at editors and video teams who want local tagging across formats including ProRes, BRAW, H.264, H.265, DNxHR, XAVC, CinemaDNG, and MXF. The app runs on macOS and Windows, supports Smart Bin-compatible metadata, and can create keyword bins automatically.
Its strongest area is metadata depth for video production. Tagger for Resolve generates AI keywords and descriptions, classifies scenes and shots, detects camera bodies and color-space data, and provides local Whisper audio transcription. Audio transcription runs locally, while low-resolution sample frames are sent for AI analysis. The Free plan includes all metadata features, audio transcription, BRAW native support, and macOS and Windows compatibility. That makes the free tier useful for evaluating the core tagging workflow without a recurring charge.
The Pro plan costs $99 one-time and adds unlimited AI tagging, Watch Folder automation, and email support. Watch Folder automation is the clearest upgrade for repeatable ingest and cataloging routines. The product remains a specialized DaVinci Resolve companion rather than a complete digital asset management system: its focus is searchable metadata inside the Resolve Media Pool, not sharing, workflows, versioning, or API access. Choose it when local video tagging and Resolve integration are the priority. Teams seeking broader asset collaboration or DAM administration should choose a different type of platform.
