Structurizr is a models-as-code tool for software architecture diagrams built around the C4 model. Developers, software architects, engineering teams, and stakeholders can define a single architecture model in Structurizr DSL, then generate system landscape, system context, container, component, dynamic, deployment, filtered, custom, and image views. Browser viewing, manual and automatic layout, interactive diagrams, Markdown or AsciiDoc documentation, and architecture decision record rendering support both technical documentation and stakeholder communication.

Its strongest fit is a version-controlled architecture workflow. Workspace APIs support pushing and pulling JSON workspaces, while branches, locking, and retained server versions provide governance for shared models. Git, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Kubernetes, PlantUML, C4-PlantUML, Mermaid, and WebSequenceWebDiagrams integrations extend the workflow. Exports include PlantUML, C4-PlantUML, Mermaid, WebSequenceWebDiagrams, PNG, SVG, JSON, static HTML, and theme JSON. MCP and AI-oriented DSL validation, parsing, and inspection tools add support for automated architecture workflows.

The free local edition, browser-based playground, export utilities, and self-hosted server tooling give teams several ways to work with Structurizr. Paid server plans are priced per Structurizr server installation by annual unique-user tier: Small is £300 per month for 1–20 users, Medium £600 for 21–50, Large £900 for 51–100, and Enterprise tiers range from £1,200 to £2,400 for 101+ users. That structure suits organizations standardizing architecture documentation across teams, but it is a specialized, high-cost choice. Teams wanting real-time collaboration, a desktop app, or a continuing cloud service should choose an alternative.
