Strategr review
A focused free planner for desktop time blocking, with limited ecosystem coverage.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
Strategr is a free, open-source desktop time-management app for people who plan their day through time blocking. It supports macOS and Windows, with color-coded activity lists that can be arranged into scheduled sessions. Users can adjust session durations, track the current session, and receive notifications before and at the start of a session. Its desktop focus suits people who want an open planner without a subscription or a broad task-management suite.
The planning workflow centers on time-boxed sessions rather than a large collection of productivity features. Drag-and-drop arrangement makes it possible to adjust the day’s structure, while duration controls support changes as plans evolve. Calendar import and export extend the planner into appointment-based scheduling, and entries can include notes. The system calendar is the listed integration, so Strategr fits best when the calendar is the main external planning surface. Its open-source GPLv3 distribution and stated commitment to remain free may also appeal to users who prefer software they can inspect and keep using without paid tiers.
Strategr’s narrow scope is also its main boundary. It does not provide recurring tasks, mobile apps, or integrations beyond the system calendar, making it less suitable for people who plan across devices or connect several work tools. An iOS version is under development, while the currently available desktop coverage remains macOS and Windows. Choose Strategr for focused daily scheduling, time-boxed work, notifications, and a simple open-source model. Choose an alternative if recurring planning, mobile access, or a wider integration ecosystem is central to your workflow.
