SRMD-ncnn-vulkan review
A configurable, free CLI for GPU-accelerated image upscaling, not a complete video workflow.

SRMD-ncnn-vulkan is an open-source command-line application for enlarging images with SRMD neural-network models, the ncnn inference framework and Vulkan GPU acceleration. It suits technical solo users and small teams that want local desktop processing on Windows, macOS or Linux. Common image formats are supported, and the interface is oriented toward command-line operation rather than a visual editor or timeline.
Its standout strength is control over the super-resolution process. Users can select 2×, 3× or 4× scaling, adjust the noise-level parameter, choose a custom model path and select the GPU device. Optional test-time augmentation can be enabled when the workflow calls for it. This combination makes the tool adaptable to different models and hardware setups, while its free, open-source model keeps the software accessible across all three supported operating systems. It does not provide frame interpolation, so its focus stays on spatial enlargement rather than motion processing.
The main boundary is workflow scope. SRMD-ncnn-vulkan is built around image files, not a dedicated video timeline, editor or end-to-end video pipeline. Turning footage into an upscaled result therefore requires external frame extraction and recombination, and batch processing is not provided. Community support and documentation are the listed support channels, fitting a project that expects users to manage command-line setup and GPU configuration themselves. Choose it when you need configurable image super-resolution and are comfortable assembling surrounding media steps; choose a dedicated video upscaler instead when integrated video handling or batch queues are central requirements.
