SR Research Experiment Builder is a graphical programming environment for creating computer-based psychology and neuroscience experiments. It is intended primarily for academic eye-tracking research, especially studies using SR Research EyeLink eye trackers. Drag-and-drop construction supports behavioral tasks alongside eye-tracking experiments, with controls for conditional branching, looping, nested sequences, blocking, run-length control, and list counterbalancing. Projects can be developed on Windows or macOS.

Its strongest fit is complex experiment programming. Researchers can define gaze-contingent triggers for fixation, saccade, and sample velocity, while presenting text, shapes, images, video, and audio with precise control. Interest-area tools include automatic generation for text plus rectangular, elliptical, and freehand regions. Custom Python code and Python data structures extend the graphical workflow for more specialized logic. These capabilities make the product suitable when an experiment needs detailed stimulus behavior instead of a narrow sequence of fixed screens.

The surrounding hardware and analysis workflow is equally important. Experiment Builder integrates with EyeLink Data Viewer through EDF messages and can synchronize with EEG and fNIRS devices, button boxes, and other response devices through TTL or TCP/IP. SR Research states that a license is required and provides a free demo, with pricing handled through contact sales. macOS supports development, but the vendor does not currently recommend it for data collection because of display-timing changes. Choose Experiment Builder for advanced EyeLink studies involving branching, gaze control, biometric synchronization, or EDF-based analysis. Teams seeking a general-purpose workflow outside the EyeLink ecosystem may prefer a less specialized tool.
