Sprag review
A low-cost speech API for generating, designing, and cloning voices.

Sprag is a developer-focused text-to-speech and multimodal inference service for teams building speech features through a web interface or API. Its Chorus models generate audio from text with 56 preset voices, voices designed from text prompts, or voices cloned from inline reference audio and a transcript. The service supports ten output languages, configurable speaking speed, delivery instructions, and streaming or buffered responses. It is best suited to developers who need programmatic voice generation at low usage prices rather than a broad integration catalog.
The published plans show three usage-based options. Chorus costs $0.70 per hour of speech generated for stock-voice text-to-speech. Chorus Clone costs $4.50 per 1M characters and clones a voice from a short reference. Chorus Design costs $15 per 1M characters and creates new voices from a text prompt. This structure keeps standard generation inexpensive while separating voice cloning and design into their own rates. There is no free plan, so buyers should estimate speech volume and decide whether preset voices, cloning, or designed voices fit their workflow.
Sprag’s strongest fit is an API-led product stack: its speech API is OpenAI-compatible, and generated audio can be returned in MP3, Opus, AAC, FLAC, WAV, or PCM. Streaming and buffered responses support different application patterns, while the web platform provides another access point. The trade-off is a limited integration footprint, making Sprag less suitable for buyers who prioritize many prebuilt connectors or a subscription plan with bundled usage. Choose it for low-cost, configurable speech generation and voice cloning; consider an alternative if broad integrations or a free plan matter more.
