SpeedReading.com Academy is a browser-based training service for students, professionals, and lifelong learners who want to increase reading speed while retaining meaning. Its curriculum combines adaptive reading drills, guided pacing exercises, reading passages with comprehension checks, vocabulary practice, memory and recall exercises, and baseline speed and comprehension assessment. Training modes include Flash, Group, Speed, Blur, Readings, Vocabulary, and Memory, giving learners a broad set of practice formats rather than a single speed-drill approach.
Pricing is organized around access periods rather than a monthly subscription. The Three months plan costs $139, Six months costs $209, Yearly costs $264 per year with annual billing, and Lifetime access costs $334 as a one-time purchase. Every listed plan includes Full Academy access, all training modes, and updates. A five-day free trial provides a short evaluation period before paid access, while the available terms describe subscriptions billed through PayPal. The structure suits learners prepared to follow a multi-month program, but the starting price makes it a more substantial commitment than a lightweight practice app.
The strongest case for Academy is its guided breadth: learners can work on pacing, comprehension, vocabulary, memory, and recall while tracking progress across speed, comprehension, and recall. The service also describes uploaded documents for later reading, which can extend practice beyond its built-in passages. It is a good fit for users who want intensive instruction and multiple training modes in one web service. Those seeking mobile access, a monthly payment option, or a lower-cost entry point should consider an alternative instead.
