Source-Connect review
Remote recording and sync tools for distributed sessions, not audiobook editing.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
Distributed audiobook sessions can use Source-Connect to stream and record audio between locations. The desktop software is aimed at voice performers, recording studios, and facilities that need remote collaboration, with standalone operation or plugin-host workflows on Windows and macOS. It fits the recording link in a production workflow rather than the full audiobook pipeline: editing and mastering tools are not listed, so teams needing those capabilities should look elsewhere or pair it with other software.
Its standout value is session coordination across distance. Timeline synchronization uses MTC or LTC, MIDI can stream between connections, and supported plugin formats include AAX, AU, and VST3. The product also supports multi-channel and surround streaming, conference connections with up to six simultaneous participants, and Auto-Restore and Auto-Replace recovery workflows. Integrations include Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Reaper, Adobe Audition, DaVinci Resolve, FL Studio, Bitwig, and Studio One. That breadth makes it relevant to studios already working in those environments, while the remote link and sync tools are the central focus.
According to the published plans, a 15-day free trial is available, and short-term licenses start at $25 per license for two days. Standard / Talent costs $35 monthly or $385 yearly per license, with network access, stereo connections, up to 160 kbps per channel, MIDI notes, and Remote Transport Sync. Pro / Studio is $105 monthly per license, offering up to 256 kbps per channel and Restore/Replace session requests; buy-in options are $1,495 for Pro / Studio and $2,490 for Pro X / Facility, each including one year of Network Access. Facility adds surround and multichannel connections. Choose Source-Connect when remote recording and synchronization matter; it is not a substitute for audiobook editing or mastering software.
