SoftLoaf Negative is desktop software for digitizing color and black-and-white film negatives from camera captures or scanner input. It is designed for photographers, archivists, and imaging professionals who need more control than a general photo-scanning workflow provides. The software runs on Windows and macOS and combines negative conversion with color-management, calibration, roll browsing, frame-level adjustments, and dedicated black-and-white controls.

Its standout strength is the depth of its film-processing workflow. A 24-patch digitization calibration process can create correction matrices, while film-curve processing handles both color and black-and-white negatives. Native HDR preview and HDR file delivery support high-dynamic-range work, and separate red, green, and blue monochrome captures can be combined. Hot-folder monitoring can automatically receive new frames, while roll processing helps organize larger batches. Export options include JPEG, PNG, TIFF, UltraHDR, HEIC gain map, AVIF HDR, ACES EXR, and ADX DPX, covering common raster, HDR, and professional image formats.

The Personal plan costs $29.90 per user per year with annual billing and includes personal and commercial use, access across macOS and Windows, all current features, and continuous updates. The Team plan costs $99.90 per four users per year and provides four assignable individual seats, separate accounts, cross-platform access, all current features, and continuous updates. A three-day trial is available without a payment method, but it does not allow exports, and purchases and live checkout are not yet open. Choose SoftLoaf Negative for specialized negative digitization and advanced output requirements; choose a general photo-scanning tool if you need broader support for ordinary prints and albums.
