SnapCAD review
A practical web CAD option for straightforward 2D DWG and DXF work.

SnapCAD is a browser-based 2D CAD application for opening, editing, and saving DWG and DXF files without installing desktop software. It is aimed at fabricators, CNC users, drafting contractors, cabinetmakers, small architecture practices, and other independent professionals or small teams. Its toolkit covers lines, arcs, circles, polylines, ellipses, polygons, hatches, and common modification commands such as move, copy, mirror, offset, rotate, scale, trim, fillet, chamfer, and explode. Layers, properties, entity snapping, keyboard shortcuts, and a command line support day-to-day drafting work.
The Free plan provides substantial drafting functionality, including DWG and DXF opening, drawing tools, entity snap, keyboard shortcuts, and layers and properties. Standard costs 19 AUD per month on monthly billing and includes everything in Free, plus DWG saving, DXF saving, fabrication-ready DXF export, and a round-trip workflow with desktop CAD. The paid tier is therefore focused on file output and continued exchange with desktop CAD rather than expanding the core drawing toolkit. DWG save compatibility covers eight listed DWG versions.
SnapCAD fits teams that want browser access to familiar 2D file formats and a focused drafting workspace, particularly where fabrication-oriented DXF export matters. Its web-only delivery avoids desktop installation, but it requires an online workflow because offline mode is not provided. The product is not positioned as BIM software or a full 3D parametric CAD platform, and it does not provide verified advanced constraints, batch printing, or integrations. Choose it for straightforward 2D DWG/DXF drafting and desktop-CAD round trips; choose an alternative when advanced modeling, automation, broader ecosystem connections, or offline work are central requirements.
