Smoovie review
A classroom-focused iPad app with strong capture, editing, audio and export tools.

Smoovie is an iPad stop-motion animation app for children, families and classrooms. It combines live frame capture through the iPad camera with onion skinning, scene organization and frame-level editing. Users can arrange scenes, adjust playback speed, edit individual frames, add audio and export HD movies. Built-in storyboards, lesson plans, printable templates and animation technique guides give educators material for structured classroom projects, while families can use the same tools for short animations at home.
Its strongest fit is the Apple ecosystem. Smoovie can export to Photos, Files, AirDrop and Apple TV, and it works with Keynote, GarageBand, iMovie and the Music library. That makes it practical for classrooms already working on iPads and sharing finished projects through familiar Apple destinations. The workflow also covers more than basic capture: green-screen backgrounds, recorded voiceovers, imported music and independent scene playback speeds support projects that need narration, soundtracks or varied pacing.
According to the vendor’s product information, Smoovie is a paid iOS app, and the App Store price is regional and shown in GBP. There is no free plan. The product is a clear choice for teachers, families and younger creators who want capture, animation editing, sound and educational materials in one iPad workflow. It is less suitable for teams that require Android, desktop or cross-platform access, or for advanced production environments seeking a broader platform footprint. Buyers should choose Smoovie when iPad compatibility and classroom-oriented resources matter more than multi-platform availability.
