Slidev is an open-source, web-based presentation maker and presenter designed for developers. Markdown is the primary authoring format, while Vue components, HTML, interactive demos, syntax-highlighted code, and live coding support technical presentations. It can be created locally with the Slidev CLI, built as a static single-page application, or hosted as a web application. Themes, presenter mode, drawing, recording, camera view, diagrams, math, and export options extend it beyond basic slide authoring.
Its strongest fit is the developer ecosystem. Slidev works with Vue 3, Vite, UnoCSS, Shiki, Monaco Editor, VueUse, Iconify, Drauu, KaTeX, Mermaid, and other npm packages. Mermaid diagrams and LaTeX math handle technical explanation, while Vue components and interactive demos support content that would be difficult to express in a conventional editor. The built-in MCP server and AI-agent skills add an automation-oriented workflow for teams already working with developer tools.
Slidev is a focused choice for code-rich talks, technical documentation, workshops, and presentations that benefit from version-controlled Markdown. It supports presenter mode with synchronized audience and presenter windows, recording, and export to PPTX as well as PDF, PNG, and Markdown. Offline access is available for built decks when PWA support is configured and assets have been cached. Choose another presentation tool if real-time collaborative editing, PPTX import, or a general-purpose visual editing workflow is central to the project.
