SketchUp is Trimble’s 3D modeling software for architects, designers, builders, educators, and other professionals. It combines browser-based, desktop, and iPad modeling with 2D documentation, scene creation, animation, cloud sharing, model comments, and real-time viewing. The free edition runs in a browser and includes Trimble Connect cloud storage and 3D Warehouse access, but it is not for commercial use. A seven-day free trial is also available.

The published annual-equivalent plans show a clear progression. Go Annual costs $10.75 per user per month and adds iPad access, unlimited cloud storage, and Photoreal Materials. Pro Annual costs $33.25 and adds the desktop 3D modeler, LayOut, PreDesign, and Extension Warehouse access. Studio Annual costs $71.58 and adds Windows-only advanced workflows, Revit import, point-cloud modeling, photorealistic visuals, rendered animations, and 360-degree panoramas. Pro Scan, Pro Civil Contractor, and Pro Advanced Workflows target narrower workflows at $41.58, $41.58, and $49.92 per user per month, respectively, with scan-to-3D, field-data, Trimble Site Contractor, or interoperable workflow features.

SketchUp’s main strength is breadth without requiring every user to start with a desktop installation. Its ecosystem includes Trimble Connect, 3D Warehouse, Extension Warehouse, LayOut, V-Ray, Revit, and Trimble Site Contractor. Dynamic Components support editable attributes and formulas, while STL import and export support 3D printing. AI features include AI Help, Generate Object, AI Render, and Scan-to-Design. Choose SketchUp if you need approachable modeling with documentation, sharing, visualization, or specialized workflows. The free tier suits noncommercial browser work; commercial users should consider Go or Pro, while scan-heavy, Revit-linked, or advanced visualization workflows point toward the higher plans.
