SimBio is a paid virtual lab and learning-content system for college-level biology courses. It combines interactive simulated experiments with tutorial labs, workbook labs, and interactive ecology chapters. Content spans introductory biology, ecology, evolution, cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, and physiology. The system is suited to instructors who need structured assignments, auto-graded questions, instant feedback, student progress tracking, and LMS-based score and submission export.

Its plans organize access around different content models: Virtual Labs includes workbook and tutorial-style virtual labs; Interactive Chapters provides interactive ecology chapters; Unlimited Labs removes the limit on the number of labs selected for a SimUText; and SimBio Unlimited combines chapters and/or labs. Billing is organized per student and per term rather than per user per month. The paid structure fits course adoption, while the available plan names let instructors align content access with a narrower lab selection or a broader chapters-and-labs curriculum.

Assessment and course administration are central strengths. Instructors can create assignments, manage due dates, organize course sections, provide co-instructor access, monitor performance, track student progress, and export scores and submissions to learning management systems. SimBio also offers supplemental question banks and learning outcomes. The Active Learning System is web-based, while the classic SimUText System is client-based and supports web, Windows, and macOS environments. Choose SimBio for biology teaching teams that prioritize virtual experiments and LMS-connected assessment; consider another option when broad subject coverage or a single, fully unified platform experience matters more.
