Silverpeas is an open-source collaborative platform for organizations building an intranet or digital workplace. It brings together internal news publishing, employee and photo directories, document management, configurable collaborative spaces, calendars, forms, blogs, newsletters, multimedia applications, and content editing. Teams that need structured publishing, targeted communication, searchable documents, and self-hosting will find its scope well aligned with those requirements. Smartphone access is available through a dedicated mobile interface, and optional modules support single sign-on, instant messaging, and online editing.

Its plans cover three deployment paths. The Free Offer costs €0 per installation and includes the open-source version, a basic collaborative platform, and self-hosting. The Cloud offer costs €2,500 annually per 50-user platform and adds a dedicated hosted platform, hosting, 25 GB of limited storage, and GOLD-level support. The On-premise offer costs €9,000 for implementation, with self-hosted deployment while hosting and technical administration remain the customer's responsibility. This structure suits teams that want control over deployment, while the cloud option shifts hosting responsibility to the provider.

Silverpeas also fits environments with established identity and directory systems. Integrations include Active Directory, LDAP, Azure, Kerberos, SAML, and SCIM, while optional SSO modules support centralized access. Its publishing and document features go beyond a basic noticeboard, with scheduled and targeted news distribution, versioning, workflows, search, configurable pages, and WYSIWYG or HTML editing. Choose Silverpeas when open-source deployment, structured content, and broad intranet functionality matter more than a narrowly focused communication tool. Consider another option if a larger included storage allowance or a simpler deployment model is the priority.
