Shower is an open-source presentation engine for developers, technical presenters and designers who are comfortable editing web files. Instead of offering a hosted visual editor, it uses HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript to create slide decks that run in modern browsers. Its presentation engine is separate from its themes, and the project includes Ribbon and Material themes for starting points. Keyboard navigation, presentation controls, slide management, progress bars and timers support live presenting, while printable and exportable presentations extend the format beyond the browser.

For a code-first workflow, the command-line tool is a notable strength. It supports creating, serving, bundling, archiving, converting and publishing presentations, giving technical teams a way to manage decks alongside other web files and development processes. The browser format also makes HTML, CSS and JavaScript available for presentation design and behavior. Shower fits particularly well when control over markup, styling and lightweight distribution matters more than a visual authoring interface.

The trade-off is its narrow focus. Shower does not provide built-in collaboration, AI features, common office file workflows or integrations, so teams expecting shared editing or connections to a broader presentation ecosystem should choose another product. Its web-based delivery also makes it less suitable for buyers who require established offline access. Choose Shower for developer-led presentations, technical talks and customizable browser slide decks; choose a conventional office or hosted presentation platform when collaboration, integrations or non-code authoring are priorities.
