Screaming Frog SEO Log File Analyser is desktop software for SEOs who need to examine server logs and understand search-engine and AI-bot crawling. It imports Apache, W3C Extended, NGINX, IIS, JSON, CSV, TSV and Amazon Elastic Load Balancing log formats, then reports on crawled URLs, response codes, crawl frequency, bot activity, redirects, errors, response times and directories. It is aimed at teams investigating how bots access a site rather than teams looking for a general website crawler.

The freemium pricing gives smaller investigations a practical starting point. The Free plan analyses up to 1,000 log events in one project and includes one saved project, search-bot verification, and URL, response-code, crawl-frequency and bot-activity analysis. The Paid plan costs $139 per user per year with annual billing. It adds unlimited log events, subject to hard-drive capacity, and unlimited projects while retaining the same core analysis areas. Both plans support Windows, macOS and Linux, and analysis data can be exported to CSV or Excel.

Its strongest capability is the combination of bot verification and crawl diagnostics. Users can identify spoofed bot IPs, examine activity by directories, IPs and countries, locate broken links and client or server errors, audit permanent and temporary redirects, and find large or slow URLs through bytes and response time. Log data can also be matched with imported URL or crawl data to identify uncrawled and orphan URLs. Choose it when server-log evidence is central to SEO work; choose another tool when the priority is performing website crawls rather than analysing imported logs.
