Scaniverse review
A flexible mobile-first scanner for meshes, Gaussian splats, and spatial mapping.

Scaniverse is a mobile and web platform for capturing physical environments and generating spatial assets. It is designed for individual creators, field teams, organizations, robotics workflows, construction projects, and other groups that need 3D representations of real-world locations. Capture options include mobile devices and 360-degree cameras, while outputs include meshes, Gaussian splats, VPS maps, and localization data. Multi-user organizations, shared sites, scan inspection, and coverage-gap review extend it beyond a single-user scanning app.
The freemium structure makes the entry point clear. The Free plan includes mobile capture, metric scale, Gaussian splats, meshes, VPS maps, and on-device reconstruction in the legacy version. Plus costs $20 per month or $200 per year and adds 360-degree camera Gaussian splats, USDZ export, and approximately 10% bonus on credit top-ups. Pro costs $50 per month or $500 per year, adds commercial rights, and raises the credit top-up bonus to approximately 15%. Enterprise has custom pricing and adds on-premises deployment, dedicated support and service-level agreements, and professional services.
Scaniverse’s main strength is breadth across capture, processing, collaboration, and delivery. It supports FBX, PLY, SPZ, and USDZ exports, cloud processing of uploaded scans, and APIs alongside web, iOS, Android, and self-hosted platforms. Integrations include Niantic Spatial SDK, Unity, Swift, Android, and ROS 2. The product is a strong fit for mobile-first spatial capture and Gaussian-splat workflows, especially when localization, shared sites, or multiple deployment options matter. Teams centered on orthophotos, control points, or GIS-specific production workflows should choose a more specialized photogrammetry tool.
