Scanio is an Android mobile scanning and PDF-editing app for receipts, contracts, notes, invoices and other paperwork. It combines camera scanning with automatic document-edge detection and smart cropping, then supports multipage PDFs, OCR text extraction, signatures, file organization and sharing. Its scanning and OCR processing takes place on the device according to the vendor's website. Scanio fits Android users who want a self-contained way to turn physical documents into organized digital files.

The pricing structure starts with a free workflow for scanning, previewing and organizing documents. The Monthly plan costs $4.99 per month and adds Scanio Premium access in the Android app, OCR text extraction, signature and PDF page tools, plus export and sharing. The Yearly plan costs $29.99 per year and includes everything in Monthly, access across supported Android devices and email support for billing issues. According to the vendor's pricing page, subscriptions are Stripe-managed, while Google Play purchases may be managed separately.

Scanio's strongest area is the document workflow itself. OCR text can be edited, copied and shared; PDFs can be assembled from multiple pages, reordered, added to or trimmed; and electronic signatures can be saved as presets. Search, sorting, views and Favorites help keep files organized, while custom filenames support export and sharing. This makes Scanio a practical choice for Android users handling recurring paperwork locally. It is less suitable for teams seeking a broader cross-platform workflow or connections beyond the app's scanning, editing and sharing features.

Scanio pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Automatic edge detection and smart cropping simplify document capture
    • OCR produces editable, copyable and shareable text
    • Multipage PDFs include page editing, signatures and sharing tools
  • Where it doesn't
    • Available only on Android
    • OCR, signatures, page tools and export require a paid plan
    • The workflow is centered on local scanning rather than broader platform coverage
