Scandra review
A capable free Android scanner for searchable, locally stored documents.

Scandra is an Android document-scanning app from Nainnie Labs for people who want to capture documents, extract text offline, and manage PDFs on a device. It detects document edges, corrects perspective, supports multi-page capture, and stores scans and extracted text locally without an account or cloud sync. Exports include PDF, JPEG, and TXT, making it suitable for receipts, forms, notes, IDs, and other paper documents that need searchable digital copies.
The free plan is unusually broad for a scanning app: it includes unlimited scans, unlimited pages, offline text recognition, and exports without a watermark. Ads support the free experience, while a separate Remove Ads plan uses a one-time purchase. The feature set extends beyond capture and OCR with searchable PDF creation, PDF merging and splitting, compression, AES PDF password protection, signature placement, and true-size front-and-back ID-card scanning. These tools give Scandra a wider document workflow than a basic camera scanner, particularly for users who want local processing and practical PDF handling.
Platform fit is the main constraint. Scandra is Android-only, and its listed integrations are Google Play services, Google Play Billing, and Google AdMob rather than broader productivity or cloud-storage connections. That makes it a focused choice for local scanning and offline OCR, not a cross-device document platform. Choose Scandra if unlimited free scanning, searchable output, and on-device storage matter most; choose another app if iPhone or iPad access, wider integrations, or a cloud-sync workflow is required.
