Samsung Phone is Galaxy’s native calling app for managing everyday calls. It is free on Android and suits Galaxy owners who want caller identification, spam controls and voicemail tools in the phone app they already have. Smart Call can identify numbers outside a user’s contacts and flag suspected spam or potential fraud. Users can block or report unwanted numbers, and in supported configurations search for local businesses from the app.

Voicemail controls are a notable part of the offer, though their reach is device-dependent. Samsung documents options to send incoming calls directly to voicemail, route them there after a selected ringing duration, and view a voicemail as the caller records it. Direct voicemail is limited to Galaxy phones running Android 16 with One UI 8.5 or higher; device, software version and carrier can also affect availability. This makes the live-view feature a specific benefit for eligible setups, not a general promise for every Galaxy phone.

Smart Call availability varies by country and device, and Samsung states that Smart Call features are provided by Hiya. That regional and device variation matters if caller labeling is the main reason to choose the app. Samsung Phone makes sense for Galaxy users who want a free, built-in dialer with practical call screening and voicemail options. Those who need broader listed capabilities, such as integrations or dual-SIM support, should compare alternatives; those features are not part of Samsung Phone’s described offering.
