Samplitude is a Windows desktop digital audio workstation for music production and professional audio work. It covers songwriting, MIDI programming, recording, editing, mixing, mastering and final delivery. Its feature set is aimed at producers and audio professionals who want detailed control over recorded material, including users who need extensive track capacity and both audio and MIDI workflows. It is not a fit for musicians who need a macOS or Linux workstation.

Audio editing is a particular strength: the DAW supports recording on up to 999 tracks and object-based editing with clip-level effects and routing. MIDI tools include note, velocity and controller-event editing, MIDI plugins and configurable routing. Users can also work with VST instruments and a score editor supporting up to 48 staves per track. Mixing and mastering tools include EQ, compressors and limiters, while stem and multi-track export support delivery workflows. The breadth suits detailed production work, though buyers seeking a simpler, narrower tool may not need this many editing and production options.

The vendor publishes monthly and annual Samplitude subscriptions at $25 per month or $145 per year. Samplitude Suite costs $175 per year and adds plugins and tools, including native Dolby Atmos support and an ADM Editor; the Suite also includes AI-powered CrumplePop noise removal. Perpetual licenses cost $395 for Samplitude and $495 for Samplitude Suite, each including one free year of upgrades and support. A 15-day trial is available, with no card required. Pick Samplitude if Windows support and detailed audio control are priorities; consider another DAW if you need a different operating system or a free plan.

Samplitude pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Records up to 999 audio tracks with object-based editing and clip-level effects
    • Combines MIDI editing, virtual instruments, score editing and configurable routing
    • Suite adds native Dolby Atmos support, an ADM Editor and additional plugins
  • Where it doesn't
    • Windows-only, so it does not fit macOS or Linux workflows
    • No free plan; subscriptions and perpetual licenses require payment
    • Suite-specific tools require a higher-priced plan than the base subscription
