Reverie is a desktop writing app for novelists who want a focused space to draft and shape a manuscript. Its writing surface supports rich formatting and Markdown, while chapters and scenes can be navigated and reordered within one manuscript. Word counts, daily targets, deadlines, and streaks give solo writers ways to track progress without turning the app into a project-management suite. It runs on macOS and Windows, and saves plain Markdown files on the writer’s device.

Its workflow emphasizes manuscript structure and export. Search works across a draft, spellcheck is included, and deleted content can be recovered. Writers can export to Word, PDF, HTML, and Markdown, as well as Shunn-format manuscript export. iCloud Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive are listed as integrations, but Reverie does not include cloud sync or collaboration; files remain on the user’s device unless managed through those services. That makes it a better fit for an individual writer’s drafting process than for co-writing or shared editorial workflows.

The paid plan is a $49.99 one-time purchase, and the license works on Mac and Windows computers owned by the buyer. There is also a 15-day trial. With offline use and device-stored Markdown files, Reverie suits solo writers who value chapter organization, progress tracking, and flexible manuscript exports. Writers who need collaboration, mobile apps, or built-in syncing should look for an alternative designed around those workflows.
