Regula Document Reader SDK is designed to read and verify passports, identity cards, driver’s licenses, visas, and other identity documents. It targets identity-verification services, financial institutions, government organizations, border-control authorities, and businesses that need automated document processing. The platform combines visual-zone OCR for document fields with MRZ parsing, 1D and 2D barcode recognition, document-type identification, image-quality assessment, RFID and NFC chip processing, and authenticity checks. Structured results can include the source, page, probability, and coordinates for extracted text fields.

Its strongest fit is a workflow that needs more than text recognition. The Basic plan includes document scanning and image capture, MRZ reading and checking, RFID reading and checking, and 1D/2D barcode reading. VizOCR adds optical character recognition for visual document fields, while AAC adds automatic authenticity verification. The Full Package combines the Basic SDK, VizOCR, and Automatic Authenticity Control. Components are available for mobile, web, Web Service, and desktop environments, with SDK language support for JavaScript, Java, Python, and C#.

Commercial licensing is handled through sales, with perpetual or annually updated licensing described for the product. A 30-day free trial is available, but there is no free plan. The platform supports web, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, and API deployments, giving teams several integration paths. The current Web Service API uses synchronous /api/process requests, so it is less suitable for workflows that specifically require asynchronous processing. Choose Regula Document Reader SDK when identity-document coverage, chip processing, authenticity checks, and structured coordinates are central requirements. Teams seeking broad, general-purpose OCR should consider a narrower document-verification alternative only if these identity-focused capabilities are unnecessary.
