Redux review
A focused tracker sampler for producers working with SFZ libraries.

Redux combines a sample-based instrument with a tracker-style phrase sequencer for producers, performers, and sound designers working inside a digital audio workstation. Its instrument features include key and velocity triggering, sample mapping, round-robin support, per-note polyphonic sample modulation, and preset and content-library management. The workflow stays focused on sampled instruments and sequenced phrases rather than presenting itself as a general standalone sampler. Redux is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, with VST3 support and Audio Unit support on macOS.
The feature set covers a substantial part of the sample-production workflow. Waveform editing, slicing, and sample recording sit alongside DSP effects, modulation devices, eight global macro controls, and MIDI note output to the host. That MIDI output gives the tracker sequencer a role beyond internal playback, while the modulation and macro systems provide ways to shape samples and effects from within the plugin. Producers who prefer tracker-based composition and want sequencing, editing, and sound design in one instrument should find the feature balance particularly relevant.
Redux is a paid plugin rather than a free product, and the full license includes versions from 1.4.4 to 2.4.4. Its main constraint is format and workflow scope: it runs inside a compatible host, does not provide a standalone application, and supports SFZ as the supplied sample format. That makes it a clear fit for tracker-oriented producers using SFZ libraries, especially those who value host integration and MIDI output. Producers seeking a standalone sampler or broader sample-format coverage should choose a product built around those requirements instead.
Redux pros and cons
- Where it wins
- Tracker-style sequencing with MIDI note output to the host
- Sample editing, slicing, recording, effects, and modulation in one plugin
- Runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux with VST/AU plugin support
- Where it doesn't
- Plugin-only workflow with no standalone sampler application
- SFZ is the supported sample format
- No free plan; the product is sold as a paid license
