Recharts review
A free, flexible React chart library for developers building web interfaces.

Recharts is an open-source charting library for developers building data visualizations inside React applications. Its component-based approach covers common Cartesian charts as well as polar, radial, funnel, treemap, Sankey, and sunburst visualizations. Native SVG rendering, responsive containers, and customization hooks make it suited to teams that want chart behavior and presentation to live within a web application's codebase rather than in a separate dashboard product.
The open-source pricing model is a central advantage. Recharts is free to adopt, with no paid tiers dividing basic charts from more advanced capabilities. The published feature set includes axes, tooltips, legends, labels, grids, chart animations, and responsive containers, while custom shapes, content, ticks, and presentation properties allow developers to refine the output. For teams already working in React, this model provides a broad charting layer without introducing a hosted analytics product or a tiered subscription structure.
Ecosystem fit is strongest in JavaScript web development. Recharts integrates with React and D3, installs through npm or Deno, and can also be used through a UMD build with Webpack-based workflows. D3 submodule integration extends the library's foundation, while bundled TypeScript definitions support typed projects. Keyboard and screen-reader accessibility support is also part of the feature set. The trade-off is scope: Recharts accepts JavaScript object arrays and focuses on rendering charts, so it does not provide built-in data connections, refresh, dashboards, or enterprise features. Choose it for custom React interfaces and embedded visualizations; consider a broader platform when managed dashboards or data operations are required.
