Rainbow is a cloud-based unified communications platform from Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise for organizations that need workplace messaging, presence, audio and video calling, sharing, conferencing, and business telephony in one service. Its free plan makes it relevant to small teams seeking basic UC capabilities, while the Essential, Business, and Enterprise plans extend the platform with different combinations of storage, telephony, call recording, conferencing, and administration. Rainbow is available through web, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and API access.

Its ecosystem fit is a major consideration for buyers with an existing communications environment. Rainbow supports cloud and hybrid business telephony, automated attendant menus for Cloud PBX, and integrations with Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise systems including OXO Connect and OmniPCX Enterprise. It also connects with non-ALE PBXs and platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Azure Active Directory, Cisco, NEC, Mitel, and Asterisk. CPaaS REST APIs add an option for organizations that need to connect communications capabilities with other systems.

Rainbow has broad UC coverage rather than a narrow focus: persistent one-to-one and group chat, contact management, audio and video calling, screen, application, and file sharing, scheduled and ad-hoc web conferencing, and telephony are all included across its feature set. The trade-off is that the verified meeting limit is two participants, which makes it less suitable for teams that need larger built-in meetings. Call recording and advanced administration also sit on higher tiers. Choose Rainbow for free basic UC or PBX-connected deployments; consider an alternative if larger meetings are central to daily work.
