QR & Barcode Scanner by Gamma Play is an Android app for people who need to read both QR codes and barcodes, whether for everyday links and contact details or product lookups. It automatically scans supported codes and handles URLs, ISBNs, product codes, contacts, calendar events, email, locations, and Wi-Fi credentials. The app also creates QR codes, making it useful for individual users who want scanning and basic code creation in one mobile tool. Its focus is practical utility rather than AI features or a broader cross-platform workflow.
Scanning options go beyond pointing the camera at one code at a time. The app can scan multiple QR codes in a batch and process codes from images or the device gallery. Flashlight support and pinch-to-zoom help when a code is difficult to capture. For managing results, scans can be exported as CSV or TXT, and CSV files can be imported. Product barcode price comparison adds a lookup function for shoppers, though its usefulness depends on having a scannable product barcode and relevant online prices. These features make the app a stronger fit for varied personal scanning tasks than a scanner limited to opening URLs.
Gamma Play offers a free ad-supported edition and a separate PRO edition that removes ads. The published plan information describes PRO as ad-free; it does not describe additional scanning capabilities in that tier. The app is Android-only, so users who need an iOS version or a workflow spanning other platforms should choose an alternative. For Android users who value batch scanning, image scans, file exports, and barcode lookups, the free edition provides a broad set of functions; users who prefer an ad-free experience can consider PRO. The app is aimed at solo mobile use rather than team workflows.
