ProfiCAD review
A focused Windows CAD tool for electrical documentation, not general-purpose 2D drafting.

ProfiCAD is a Windows desktop application for electrical and electronic diagrams, schematics, control-circuit drawings and other technical diagrams. It is aimed at electrical designers and teams that need structured documentation rather than broad, general-purpose 2D CAD. The software includes layers, multi-page drawings, page scaling, dimensioning, wiring tools, cross-references and a symbol editor, with more than 2,000 included symbols. A free Home edition supports non-commercial use, while commercial users can choose perpetual licenses.
Automation is a central strength. ProfiCAD can generate bills of materials, wire lists, cable lists and terminal lists, helping turn diagram work into project reports. It also supports cross-references between wires and symbols, batch printing, PDF export and portable installation. DWG and DXF import and export support file exchange, although the native working format is not DWG and those files are converted during import or export. The vendor's described PDF workflow uses screenshots pasted as images rather than direct PDF insertion, which may matter for teams with document-underlay requirements.
Pricing is structured around one-time purchases rather than monthly subscriptions. The Home edition is free for non-commercial use and allows free distribution. The 30-day trial includes all features and requires no credit card. A Single User License costs $277 one time, is perpetual, and covers one work computer and one home computer. A Site License costs $827 one time and permits installation on company and employee home-office computers. A School License costs $277 one time for schools, students and employees. ProfiCAD is a strong fit for electrical documentation, especially where offline operation and report automation matter; teams seeking a broader general 2D CAD system should look elsewhere.
