PROCAD ELECTRIC review
A specialized AutoCAD-compatible choice for electrical contractors working in DWG.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Sep 2026
PROCAD ELECTRIC is a Windows desktop 2D CAD application for electrical single-line diagrams, control schematics, and layout drawings. It is aimed at electrical contractors and other teams that need an AutoCAD-compatible drafting workflow with dedicated electrical content. The software includes electrical symbol and component libraries, templates for single- and three-phase lighting panel schedules, and I/O card drawing libraries for Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Square D. Built-in AutoCAD OEM functionality and DWG output support fit projects that depend on familiar drawing formats.
Its strongest distinction is electrical drafting depth. Preset line types, wire tagging, cable tray layouts, terminal block placement, and wiring automation address recurring tasks in schematic and layout production. Standards Manager controls units, scaling, layers, colors, borders, and dimensions, helping teams apply consistent project settings. PDF imports are also supported. These capabilities make the product more specialized than a general-purpose 2D drafting tool, particularly for work involving control panels, wiring documentation, and electrical layouts.
The licensing model is paid and includes a 15-day free trial; the vendor states monthly recurring, one-year, and three-year licensing options. A free plan is not available. PROCAD ELECTRIC should suit electrical contractors who value dedicated libraries, automated wiring documentation, and DWG-based workflows on Windows. Teams seeking a cross-platform desktop application or a broader CAD environment beyond electrical drafting should consider alternatives with wider platform coverage or a less specialized scope.
