Plot Factory review
A structured web workspace for plotting, drafting, organizing worlds, and narrating stories.

Plot Factory is a browser-based writing and planning workspace for fiction authors who want one place to organize stories, fictional universes, characters, chapters, scenes, and notes. It supports both structured and discovery-oriented workflows through Snowflake and Beats planning methods, then carries those plans into a manuscript editor. Narration tools, narration statistics, and word-count tracking add support for authors who want to monitor drafting progress or hear their work read aloud.
The pricing structure starts with a permanent free offering and a 14-day free trial. Basic includes one story, one universe, automated backups, daily goal tracking, thesaurus lookup, and 250-word narrations per day. Hobbyist costs $9 per month or $90 per year and adds unlimited stories and universes, ad removal, character sheets, and 1,000-word narrations per day. Enthusiast costs $14 per month or $140 per year, adding the plot organizer and story questionnaires. Novelist costs $19 per month or $190 per year and includes ePub format exports alongside the main planning features. Novelist also adds draft versioning, advanced word analysis, Beats Mode, and MP3 story export.
Plot Factory’s main strength is breadth within fiction planning: it combines world organization, character development, outlining, manuscript writing, revision history, narration, and statistics rather than focusing on only one stage of the writing process. ePub and DOCX exports support moving completed work beyond the editor. The tradeoff is a web-only platform with no collaborative writing, so it is better suited to individual authors than writing teams. Choose it if structured plotting and story organization matter as much as drafting; consider another tool if native collaboration or a broader platform ecosystem is central to your workflow.
