Picture Keeper review
A simple USB-based backup system with broad device support and optional cloud storage.

Picture Keeper combines USB storage hardware with companion apps for backing up photos, videos, and other files. It is designed for people who want a straightforward way to copy media from iOS and Android devices, Windows computers, and Macs without making cloud storage the central requirement. The software supports automatic photo and video backup, duplicate detection, restoration, RAW files, photo scanning, and batch scanning. On mobile, it can also back up contacts and documents with Picture Keeper MAX.
Pricing is organized around one-time hardware purchases rather than a conventional software subscription. The Picture Keeper 4GB and Picture Keeper 8GB plans include a USB photo and file backup drive; the published plan price for Picture Keeper 8GB is $59.99 one-time. Picture Keeper 32GB costs $129.99 one-time and includes the same USB drive approach. Picture Keeper MAX 32GB costs $139.99 one-time and adds automatic backup, built-in antivirus protection, and free unlimited AI photo editing. The MAX feature set also covers contacts and documents. Optional KeepSafe cloud storage extends the storage model beyond the connected drive, while the core product remains hardware-backed.
Picture Keeper’s main strength is breadth across personal devices and file types without requiring a recurring plan for the primary backup workflow. Its companion tools also include photo search, retouching, colorization, and object removal, giving MAX a wider photo-management role than simple file copying. The trade-off is a narrower destination model: backups are stored on the connected drive, with KeepSafe as the optional cloud addition. There is no free plan or version history, so it is less suited to users who need continuous historical recovery, flexible backup destinations, or a fully cloud-first system. Choose Picture Keeper for bundled phone-and-computer backup; consider an alternative if versioned backups or broader destination control are priorities.
