PhotoScape X is a desktop photo editor for Windows and macOS, aimed at people who want editing, browsing, and utility tools in one application. Its free plan includes photo viewing and editing, RAW image support, and batch editing. Beyond standard adjustments, it includes cropping, resizing, transformations, filters, effects, background removal, masking, collages, animated GIF creation, printing, screen capture, and photo merging. That makes it a practical fit for photographers, organized image libraries, and users who prefer a desktop utility over a narrowly focused editor.
Breadth is the main strength. The viewer includes metadata, ratings, loupe view, and full-screen browsing, while the editing tools cover color adjustments and local changes through masking. Batch workflows can resize, convert formats, and rename files, which suits recurring image-management tasks. Photo merging supports HDR and focus stacking, extending the product beyond basic corrections. The free plan therefore covers a wide range of everyday and specialized workflows without requiring separate tools for browsing, batch preparation, and creative composition.
Platform fit and feature boundaries matter when choosing it. PhotoScape X supports Windows and macOS, with the product website documenting Windows 10 and macOS compatibility; the current Mac App Store listing requires macOS 13 or later. AI Healing Brush and AI cutout features are documented for Apple Silicon Macs, so those capabilities are not equally positioned across supported devices. The product offers a paid Pro edition with additional editing capabilities, but the free edition is the clearer choice for users prioritizing broad utility features. Users who need the Pro-only tools, or who require the documented Mac AI features on unsupported hardware, should consider an alternative aligned with those requirements.
