Photo Geotag review
A private, review-first way to restore locations in Apple Photos.

Photo Geotag is an Apple Photos utility for iPhone, iPad and Mac that restores locations on untagged images. It scans the timeline around geotagged anchor photos, groups related shots by shared anchors, camera and time span, then proposes locations for review on a map. It supports RAW and JPEG camera photos imported into Apple Photos, making it a focused fit for solo photographers and small teams whose libraries already live in Apple’s ecosystem.
Its strongest distinction is the review and safety workflow. Proposals are confidence-classified and supported with map evidence, while users can confirm groups in batches, skip them or place pins manually. The app stages metadata writes, journals prior locations and provides persistent Undo, so location changes are applied only after review and can be reversed. Per-camera clock-offset detection and correction addresses timing differences that could otherwise affect anchor-based placement. Processing stays on-device, without accounts or uploads, which suits libraries that should remain local.
Photo Geotag is a paid product, although its free download allows initial confirmations before spending. It runs on iOS and macOS, and confirmed placements can be exported as GPX. Lightroom and ExifTool are listed integrations, but the workflow centers on Apple Photos rather than broad catalog support. There is no GPS-track synchronization, so photographers who need track-based imports should choose a tool built around that workflow. Choose Photo Geotag when anchor-driven automation, batch review and reversibility matter; look elsewhere if you need cross-library geotagging or track import.
