Peony is a virtual data room and secure document-sharing platform for M&A advisors, investors, founders, legal teams and other organizations handling confidential files. Its rooms provide per-folder and per-file permissions, link sharing, page-level viewer analytics, activity tracking, NDA gating, audit trails, dynamic watermarking and document e-signatures. Peony also supports AI document Q&A, auto-indexing, room generation and completeness scoring, making it suited to small teams that want diligence workflows and AI assistance in one service.

The freemium structure gives teams a way to start with the Free plan, which includes personal shares, CVs, page-by-page analytics, password protection, email capture and three e-signatures per month. Business costs $30 per admin per month with annual billing and adds email authentication, a simple NDA, screenshot protection, AI document Q&A and unlimited e-signatures. Data Room is $52 per admin per month annually, adding dynamic watermarking, an advanced NDA with signed PDF and audit trail, granular permissions, an audit trail, AI Q&A and basic Q&A; it also specifies unlimited storage and file size. Deal Team is $64 per admin per month annually and adds advanced redaction, structured advanced Q&A, API access, OAuth SSO for Google and Microsoft, and priority support. Enterprise adds SAML SSO, self-hosting, custom data residency, BYOK and custom integrations at custom pricing.

AI is the standout differentiator, spanning document questions, indexing, room creation and completeness scoring rather than only search. Security controls extend from password protection and NDA gates to screenshot and screen-recording prevention, watermarking, redaction and audit trails. Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 are the listed integrations, while web, API and self-hosted deployment cover different operating models. Peony fits teams prioritizing AI-heavy diligence at a low entry price; organizations needing broad named integrations or a public Enterprise price should compare alternatives.
