Panopto is a video knowledge platform for enterprises, universities, training organizations, and associations. It supports recording from screens, cameras, and audio sources; uploading and organizing video; live streaming; and sharing content through a governed library. Automatic indexing and captioning make recordings searchable across spoken words and on-screen elements. Browser-based editing, adaptive video delivery, quizzes, discussions, annotations, and analytics extend its use beyond basic video hosting. Web, iOS, Android, and API access support different viewing, management, and automation needs.

Its strongest fit is an organization that needs video tied to learning, collaboration, and identity systems. Panopto integrates with Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, D2L Brightspace, Cornerstone, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex, Slack, Workday, and SAP SuccessFactors. The REST API supports automated uploads, permissions, and content management. Role-based permissions, SSO, audit logging, viewer and completion analytics, assessments, and library analytics give administrators control over both access and engagement. Optional products add AI video creation, advanced search, external branded portals, and expanded analytics.

Panopto uses contact-sales pricing, and there is no free plan. That structure suits buyers evaluating an organization-wide video library, but it is less suitable for individuals or small teams looking for a self-serve subscription with a clearly stated entry price. Choose Panopto when searchable internal knowledge, learning workflows, enterprise controls, and integrations matter more than simple public video publishing. Consider another option if a free plan, transparent tier pricing, or a narrower lightweight hosting workflow is the priority.
