PanelForge is desktop pre-production software for animation, video and film teams. It brings together a layered 2D drawing canvas with brush and tablet support, a 3D stage for geometry, cameras, lighting and materials, storyboard panel management, and timeline-based animatic editing. Solo creators, small teams and larger production groups can import bitmap or 3D assets, add audio, adjust panel timing, annotate sequences and preview animatics before exporting production files.

The freemium structure gives new users a practical starting point. PanelForge Free requires no sign-up and can be used indefinitely, with up to 100 panels per project, 1080p panels, interactive timeline editing, 2D drawing, and H.264 video, PSD, Premiere/Resolve and PDF export. PanelForge Indie adds multitrack audio, a dedicated timeline workspace, 3D layout, USD and Alembic scene export, and advanced asset management at £7 per user per month on a monthly billing option stated as based on a 24-month commitment. Yearly and lifetime Indie editions are also offered, while Studio adds unlimited panels, 8k+ resolution, priority email support and phone or video-call requests.

Pipeline compatibility is a major reason to choose PanelForge. It supports Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro, Autodesk Maya and DaVinci Resolve, with Final Cut Pro XML, project XML, Maya integration tools, Alembic geometry-cache export, and movie, image-sequence and PDF outputs. Asset libraries provide drag-and-drop placement, relinking and templates. Choose it if you want an affordable Windows or macOS workstation for drawn storyboards that can extend into 3D layout and editorial handoff. Teams needing browser access, mobile work or Studio-only capacity should consider a different fit.
